Pledge
Anna wanted me to tape her doing the pledge, Jacob decided he wanted to join in. As you can see, no one person can ever get ALL the attention in this house.
Also watch Anna try to hold Jacob's hand but he won't do it. Makes me a little sad. This happened at church the other day too. Anna wanted to hold his hand walking down the isle to the front for childrens moment but he kept pushing it away. Hope he's not getting "too cool" for his sister

I survived the first day of school!! And the kids did too :)
August 9th Jacob and Anna both had their first day of school for the year.
Jacob went to kindergarten!!! Where has the time gone and when did he get old enough to do this by himself. He woke up at 5 AM filled with excitement!!
All ready to head up to the bus stop and watch him go.
He hopped right on that bus with no reservations. Mom watched with Allie on her hip and Anna trailing behind (both girls still in their PJs). Dad stayed on the corner at the stop. The bus driver asked his name and then said, "hi Jake"! Jacob didn't correct him and went on to try to find a seat. We are the last stop before they head to school so the bus was packed. Assigned seats weren't given on the first day so Jacob had to fight his way to the back with his backpack and nap mat (a full load). All mom could see was his nap mat bobbing down the center isle (he was too short for me to see him) while the bus driver screamed for someone to move over so he could sit. Right before the bus pulled off I saw his little face in the back with the big kids, he saw me too and gave me a smile. I ugly face cry in the middle of the street, Jacob just left for big school on the bus. Is he scared, will he ask for help if he needs it, will he get lost, will he be called JAKE all year by the bus driver?
Time to pull it together mom, this is a big day for Anna too.
There is a little over an hour in between bus stop and when we leave to take Anna to school. She kept saying it's my big day!!! This is the first time Anna has gone to school. She has watched Jacob, been to all his school parties, been there at drop off and pick up for him; she is ready!! Last year she cried in the beginning of the year when we dropped Jacob off because she wanted to go too. When we got to her school she hopped right out of the car, not a worry in the world. She flashed me a big smile and off she went. This was much easier than the bus, I watched her grab her teachers hand (who I already knew) and wave bye to me. Anna was made for this, she's my Ms. Independent. I sure am going to miss her on the days she's gone!
So, after drop off I met some friends at cracker barrel. I knew this would be a rough morning and others were feeling the same. I cried off and on throughout brunch and pretty much the rest of the day. Please let them have a good first day! Allie, please stop sleeping so much and take my mind off things!
Anna only goes for 4 hours a day so soon enough it was time to pick her up.
She loved it!! She told me all about her day, her new friends, her classroom, and asked when she could go back. No tears, no questions, nothing she didn't like. She could not be happier.
Two hours pass and it's up to the bus stop with the girls I go. FINALLY I see the bus. Jacob hops off that bus and runs to me with the biggest smile ever, I can breathe again.
He loved everything about big school and the bus. He talked my ear off about EVERYTHING he did and was grinning ear to ear the whole time. He's so grown and so ready for this, I had nothing to worry about all along. He's going to learn so much and I'm so excited for him.

Day two was a breeze. The bus pulled up, the bus driver said, Good Morning JACOB, he sat in his new assigned seat right in the front and waved to me. I was completely at peace. I just needed to know that he would be ok in that big school all by himself. After such a great first day I knew he would be. Anna hopped out excited again and ready to go.
Now that I am not an emotional wreck I see how great this time with my sweet Allie girl will be.
It's going to be a great year for all of us!

Summer play brings Fall school and games
What a great summer we have had!! Jacob and Anna did swim lessons, reading program at the library, VBS, playgroup(zoo, friends houses, splash parks, Mcwane science center, playgrounds), river trips (jet skis, boat rides, tubing, 4 wheelers), campout, sleepovers, a trip to GA, fun, fun, fun!!
Fall is going to be great!
Jacob starts kindergarten and cannot wait for "big school". He is riding the bus and will be gone from 7:15 until after 3. Such a long day but he is ready. After going back and forth about whether to play soccer or baseball Jacob decided on soccer (he will play baseball again in the spring) and he's super excited about it. He is also going to do choir and play bells at church which he loves.
Anna starts preschool and is beyond ready. She will be in 3K three days a week for 4 hours a day. This is the first time she will be leaving mommy for school! She is also going to play soccer and do choir at church as well as dance class on Mondays during the week.
This leaves Allie about 10 hours a week (after car drop off) of peace and quiet to run errands and hang out with Mommy. It also means Allie will be along for the ride for lots of brother and sisters activities
Then of course there is always Auburn football to be watched, WAR EAGLE!!

How are we doing??
GREAT!!!
Allie - Allie has been a very sweet baby. She is a great eater and pretty good sleeper. Her tummy bothers her sometimes which causes fussy days but for the most part she's content. She loves sitting up and looking around (in your arms of course) and loves a good snuggle. She loves her swing and doesn't seem too bothered by the constant noise in our house. She's a go with the flow kind of girl, we all love her so much. She's the perfect addition to our family
Anna - Oh Anna!! She LOVES her new baby sister. She always wants to hold her, touch her, sing to her, poke her, hold her hand, etc............ We make a lot of jokes but she really is sweet with her. Allie will lay in her lap on the boppy and Anna will kiss her feet and sing to her and even does baby talk. The problem is Allie can't get a moments peace. Eating her bottle with someone pulling on her. Trying to sleep and someone kissing her. Anna doesn't seem jealous at all just VERY hands on. I thought the novelty would wear off but a month later no luck. Today Allie had just eaten and Anna was all in her face trying to love on her. I told Anna to give her a minute to make sure her milk was all in her belly. Well, she didn't listen and sure enough Allie spit up ALMOST right on Anna. The look on her face was hilarious but no lesson learned, right back in her face. Anna is very excited to be a big sister!
Jacob - Jacob could really care less about Allie. Not in a bad way, just a little nervous around her since she's so small. And of course who can forget Jacob's weak stomach, spit up and diapers aren't exactly his thing :). He is a super big helper when I need something though and says he's excited she is here. He said he would play with her when she was older. Jacob had his 5 year check up this month. Dr Harmon asked him how our baby was and if she cried a lot. Without missing a beat Jacob said, Anna cries WAY more than the baby. Hahaha!!! At the time it was true, now it's about even. He is going to be a great big brother to these two girls and when they have their moments of crying back and forth he is the one who keeps me sane and laughing.
Mom - A little sleep deprived but doing good! So in love with all three kids and loving this new stage in our life. Sometimes I've got it completely under control and sometimes 3 kids feels like it might as well be 20 when they all need something at once. We've had a summer full of fun and so far I think I've managed to keep all three kids fed, clean and somewhat happy. I've tried my hardest to make sure the older kids do not feel like Allie is a burden and still get to do the things they love while not over doing it for a newborn. Hopefully I am somewhat accomplishing this but of course there is no perfect balance. I taught VBS for a week at our church 3 weeks after surgery and new baby. This may have been a bit ambitious. While the kids were great (Allie got to stay home with Jake because it was at night and I took the big kids) I was beyond exhausted and in pain from tending to not only my own kids but a class full of others while still recovering from a c-section. Of course I wouldn't trade it for the world, I love being right there with them teaching and wouldn't have it any other way. All this activity has made recovery take a little longer but I'm finally starting to feel normal again (whatever that is). This mom is very thankful for all our blessings and love my little family so much (ESPECIALLY when they are all peacefully sleeping ;))
Dad - A little overwhelmed but hanging in there!! I think the fact that we are now outnumbered has him a little scared but he is pitching in and we're making things work. He is and always has been a great Dad. These girls are going to have him wrapped around their little finger for sure and he is loving that Jacob is getting older so they can do more big boy things together. We're lucky to have a dad/husband who loves us so much.

We have been blessed with another healthy baby and we are already so in love!!
We were surprised about the gender of the baby which made the big day extra fun!!
The plan was for Jake to get the kids and tell them first. I made Jake promise not to tell everyone so the kids could be the one's to make the big announcement to the waiting room. Unfortunately Trisha spotted Jake's pink hospital bracelet and told everyone it was a girl before the kids could.
When the kids did come back in they were in tears. Jacob was upset because we tried to get him to wear a pink hat that said Allie and he didn't want to wear pink. Anna was upset because she wanted to be back there with Mommy, Daddy and Baby. So when the door opened for the big reveal they were both crying. Hilarious!!!

Surgery and our hospital stay went well, we are happy to be home now. When we got home the kids and JoJo had decorated the house, set the table and made cakes for Allie's Birthday. We all sat down to pizza and cake to celebrate her birth. So much fun!!!

Jacob's preschool graduation
Jacob graduated from preschool!!! Here are my favorites from the program. So proud of my little man, can't believe he'll start kindergarten in August.

I only got video of the recital on my real camera (which is too large to transfer to this site). She loved being up on stage!

Disciple, Recycle
In Sunday school Jacobs teacher asked the class if they knew what disciples were. Jacob raised his hand and said it was when instead of throwing away garbage you save it so it can be used again. Recycle!!! So funny.

Tornado - April 27, 2011
We were in the main path of the large tornado that come through Alabama. We were spared but the damage all around us is devastating. I am so grateful that everyone I know is safe and so sad for all those whose lives were affected
In the basement tub with helmets on. Kids thought it was great fun, mom was freaking out!!

For my out-of-state friends: The tornado that is getting the most national news coverage (the one that hit Tuscaloosa, Pleasant Grove, Pratt City, Forestdale, Fultondale) is the long pink line in the middle of the state. Trussville is located in the ONLY break in that line. It lifted off the ground as it passed over us and then dropped back down just north and continued on its path of destruction.

Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday the kids started off the service by carrying palms down the aisle. They also performed this morning and did great! You know how there is always that one kid you can hear over everyone else. Well, Jacob was THAT kid. The videos don't do it justice. Afterwards everyone said it was the "Jacob Sanders show". Anna did great too (remember she's the youngest and not even supposed to be in this choir until next year)!! It was great!!
Straight from church we headed to the Barons baseball game. Jacob's T-ball team was able to go on the field before the game to throw with the players and get their autograph. This video is of the kids running the bases once the game was over. Jake, Jacob and Anna are running. Anna wipes out right off of first base :)

The Lords Prayer
Jacob has learned all the words to the Lords Prayer. He says it loud and proud every Sunday. Everyone who sits around us has enjoyed week to week how he gets better and better. This Sunday he knew every word and was quite a hit. His voice definitely carries and people sitting all over the church came up to us to say how good he did and that it was the sweetest thing they had ever heard. People teared up and said it made their day. So proud of my little man

Sparky
Since we are not finding out the sex of the baby we are refering to it as Sparky. This of course is what Jacob wants to name the baby. I told him we will call the baby Sparky while it is in mom's belly and he is super excited! Not much going on with pregnancy, feeling much better now that I'm in my second trimester. I actually felt the baby move this week which of course is the greatest feeling in the world. My 20 week ultrasound is Feburary
7th. We're taking the kids with us so we can all see "our" baby!!

Roomies
Make room for baby, Jacob and Anna share a room now!! Our initial plan was to move Anna into Jacob's room in May once Jacob was out of school with enough time to adjust before the baby comes in June. Change in plans. Over Christmas break Jacob had his first sleepover with his buddy Ty at our house. Ever since Anna has wanted to sleep in Jacob's room with him. So, we gave it a shot and now she's in there every night! It is super cute and they both love it. After Christmas all the toys moved out of the bedrooms and into the basement. Jacob is in a twin bed and Anna is in a toddler bed. I can hear them talking and giggling over the monitor before they fall asleep each night. Jacob has started tucking Anna in every night which is ridiculously sweet. He gets her all 3 of her blankies, covers her with all 4 of her blankets then tells her goodnight and gives her a kiss. Melts my heart. They love each other and are so close. With that closeness there is of course PLENTY of fighting but they are definitely best buddies. I cannot believe how old they are getting. Next year Jacob will start kindergarden and Anna will start preschool. They will do great and love it, mom on the other hand is going to be a wreck!! Thank goodness "Sparky" will be here by then to keep me busy :)
